Outreach Class — Narita High School Affiliated Elementary School “Field Trip Pre-Departure Briefing” - Narita High School Affiliated Elementary School
Outreach Class Conducted at Narita High School Affiliated Elementary School [November 27, 2025]
On November 27, 2025, E-LINE Co., Ltd. conducted an outreach class at Narita High School Affiliated Elementary School on 'How the Internet Works and the Safety of Information Communication.' The class covered the basic mechanisms by which information is exchanged over the internet, appropriate and risky uses of social media, and the goal of developing the ability to express one's own ideas using data as evidence.
Lesson Objectives
• Learn how internet communications flow and how web pages are displayed
• Learn about risks hidden in social media and the rules and ethics needed to communicate information safely
• Interpret data from everyday life and use it to consider the structure of an effective web page
• Experience ways to communicate effectively from both data and design perspectives
Drawing on expertise in data analysis and web development from our daily work, E-LINE instructors explained the 'invisible mechanisms' behind the internet in an accessible way. In particular, they used real examples to explain the spread of misinformation on social media and the handling of personal information, and the children listened attentively.
How the Children Participated
During the lesson, students spontaneously offered comments such as, 'What would happen if I sent a photo to someone I don't know?' and 'This wording might hurt the other person,' demonstrating active thinking about how to use social media and the internet. In the latter half of the class, groups discussed 'what kind of communication would be safe and easy to understand' and used data to structure web pages.
Students repeatedly experimented, saying things such as, 'Changing this graph color makes it easier to read!' and 'Writing it this way makes people more likely to read it.' Looking at their completed pages, they smiled and said, 'It really looks like a website!' and 'We can make one ourselves!' In post-class reflections, comments included, 'I want to be careful when using social media' and 'I think it's important to look at the numbers before deciding,' showing that students had internalized the learning as something personally relevant.
Our Thanks to School Staff
We sincerely thank the principal, vice principal, and teachers for their cooperation in conducting the class. Being able to work in an educational environment where each child thinks independently and deepens learning through dialogue was a valuable experience for us as well.
