Outreach Class Conducted at Nanabayashi Junior High School, Funabashi City [December 4, 2025]

On December 4, 2025, E-LINE Co., Ltd. conducted an outreach class at Nanabayashi Junior High School in Funabashi City on 'Using Data Analysis to Think About Information Use and Communication Skills.' Students learned the basic analytical process of reading data in everyday life and deriving opinions or ideas from it, while also developing the ability to communicate with evidence using graphs and tables.

Lesson Objectives

• Understand the types and characteristics of data found in daily life
• Develop the ability to form opinions based on data and express them with clear evidence
• Experience clear and effective information communication using graphs and tables
• Develop a critical perspective for interpreting information through data analysis
Drawing on data-analysis methods used in actual business operations, E-LINE instructors explained in an accessible way the 'invisible meaning' behind data, including graph creation and interpretation of trends. In particular, they used the 'tricks of numbers' that can be hidden in news and social-media posts encountered in everyday life to explain concretely why it is important to read data correctly. Students engaged seriously with the lesson while seeing how familiar topics can be understood through data.

How the Students Participated

　During the lesson, students actively voiced ideas such as, 'This graph may not be telling the whole truth' and 'I want to think about the background, not just the numbers,' showing greater awareness of data-based thinking. In the latter half of the class, groups used assigned data to discuss 'what kind of presentation would be easiest to understand' and created bar and pie charts.
　Students made repeated improvements, saying things such as, 'This color makes comparisons easier!' and 'Changing the title makes the meaning clearer!' They also showed one another their completed materials. In post-class reflections, many comments included, 'I learned that it's important to look carefully at the numbers and think' and 'Using data makes an argument more convincing,' showing that students had come to understand data analysis as something personally relevant.

Being able to teach in an educational environment where each student independently interpreted data and deepened their thinking through dialogue was also an extremely valuable experience for us.
